I landed safely in DC, and I’ve been shooting shit with Peter and our mutual friend Albert at our hotel for the last few hours.

My roommate is pretty great; I feel like I hit the roommate lottery a little bit. Maybe we’ll be friends ~*~forebber~*~

I read a pretty good chunk of Sara Benincasa’s “Agorafabulous!” on the plane, and I felt a lot of camaraderie with her tales of mental illness, riddled with a healthy amount of hilarity, of course. Anxiety that severe is some real shit. Depression and fear that deep, hitting the point where you don’t want to leave your house, your room, your bed, or don’t feel like you CAN leave… That’s some real shit. Suffice to say, I felt it.

I’m seriously just checking baggage because I need a full bottle of conditioner if I’m going to deal with the humidity in DC for a week. Honestly, I need my full arsenal of hair products and body lotions and good smelling things.

One of my favorite memories with Alex is from last weekend, when I sang one of the songs he wrote while he played his guitar. I’ve never done that with someone, and I don’t experience a lot of moments that feel perfect, but I think that was one.

Long distance is fucking hard, you guys (and some of you know that all too well), but it is so worth every hour spent on the road for every moment spent with the right person.

/mush (believe me, I can’t believe I wrote that last part either, but sometimes you just gots to express yourself).
